What Blog Type Should I Choose?

What Blog Type Should I Choose?

When Selecting your Blog Type, you have three options. Each option requires a difference input for the Blog URL field. Here is an explanation of each...

New Blog

Choose New Blog if you want an easy blog solution without modifying your own site or involving your webmaster.

In the Blog URL field below the New Blog button, write in a new name for your domain; you create the name, and it can be anything you want so long as it is not already used in our system. Your new domain name should be relevant for your service, for instance 'myname.autotipsblog.com'. This will become the URL for your new blog, and will be the address you type in to your browser to see the site.

After writing your name in the empty field, choose a subdomain in the pull down menu. For auto service blogs choose 'autonettipsblog'.

Later, you can link to this new domain name from your Home site to create a connection between them. You will have an opportunity on a later page in this signup process to enter the URL of your Home page so that we can include links to your Home page from the content we will publish for you.

When selecting New Blog, you are indicating that you do not already have an existing blog, and that you are intending to create a new blog on the system we have provided for you. This option allows you to create a new blog on our server using a domain that you get to choose. This is the easiest option, and requires the least amount of knowledge to complete.

When you are finished creating your New Blog, you will be able to login to your New Blog and create your own content if you want to. We will publish content to your New Blog for you each week. To connect your site to this New Blog, simply create a new link on your own Home site (if you have one, but not required) to the New Blog URL.

Existing Wordpress Blog

Choose Existing Wordpress Blog if you already have a Wordpress blog and want to receive our content directly into your Existing Wordpress Blog.

NOTE that you cannot use this option if you simply have an account at Wordpress.com. This is for external, custom blogs build on the Wordpress framework. Using this option will require a moderate knowledge of how to work with plugins on your own Existing Wordpress Blog.

In the Blog URL field below the Existing Wordpress Blog button please include the entire URL of your Existing Wordpress Blog, including the 'http' part.

At the end of the signup process you will be provided a link to download our ListPipe plugin. Unzip the plugin and read the ReadMe file, which is included. Simply copy the plugin file to your Wordpress plugins folder and then activate the plugin from within your Existing Wordpress Blog control panel. You will then begin receiving content to your Existing Wordpress Blog each week.

RelayPipe™

This is an advanced option that requires knowledge of a dynamic language and REST protocol

Choose RelayPipe if you have a site created with a dynamic programming language such as PHP or ASP, have advanced knowledge of code (or webmaster), and want to receive our content to a dynamic page on your existing website. This is an easy-to-implement, yet advanced Web service solution that will require a webmaster for implementation.

At the end of the signup process you will be given an access code that you will use to link your dynamic page on your site to our ListPipe Web Service using REST, a technology that allows two disparate systems to communicate with each other.

You will need an understanding of your website code, or will need to involve your webmaster to implement this option.
